San Beda and San Sebastian arranged an all-NCAA finale for the championship after winning their respective semifinal matches of the 2009 Nike Summer League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City last June 11.

The Red Lions rallied from a 14-point deficit in the first half to stun Far Eastern University, 74-72, while the Stags erupted in the last 20 minutes to oust their league rival Letran, 82-69.

Both squads will play in a one-game title affair on Saturday. Gametime is set at 4 p.m. after FEU and Letran collide for third place at 2:30 p.m.

FEU stormed to a quick 23-9 advantage and was on the verge of taking control of the rest of the ballgame. But American big man Sudan Daniel and JR Tecson helped San Beda mount a rally before shooter Garvo Lanete finished it off with five straight points to complete the comeback.

"We had a shaky first half. I told them to not put their lead to 20 points because we're going to be in trouble," said San Beda head coach Frankie Lim. "But slowly we started to play better and completed a comeback."

Daniel dominated the shaded lane in absence of some of the Tams big men, particularly RP team member Aldrech Ramos, to finish with 19 points and six rebounds while Tecson led the Red Lions in scoring with 25.

Lanete, meanwhile, scored just eight points, but made five straight to put the Mendiola-based cagers ahead for good, 71-69, with 1:48 left in the game.

RP team mainstay JR Cawaling's 25-point output was put to waste with FEU's loss. He was backstopped by 15 points each from rookie Ryan Roose Garcia and Reil Cervantes.

Mark Barroca had eight points, five rebounds and eight assists but missed two driving layups past Daniel that could have tied the score at 71 with under a minute to go in the contest.

Meanwhile, Jimbo Aquino and Dave Najorda exploded in the second half along with Raymond Maconocido and freshman Ronald Pascual as San Sebastian ease off an 11-point second quarter lead to dominate the RJ Jazul-led Knights.

Aquino led the Stags with 20 points, Najorda had 17 while Maconocido and Pascual chipped in 15 and 14 points, respectively, in the victory.

"Nakapagrespond naman kami by making adjustments to our game," said SSC head coach Ato Agustin. "Sana makasungkit kami sa finals para maka-gain kami ng momentum sa NCAA."

Jazul powered the Knights for 21 points with fellow national Rey Guevarra adding 16. Reymar Gutilban scored 17 points.

Guevarra scored on a layup eight seconds into the second quarter for a 30-19 edge for Letran only for the Recto-based dribblers to hit a telling 24-9 run to grab a 43-39 halftime margin.

From there, the Stags took charge as they ballooned their lead to 15 points, 58-43, on a triple by Jonathan Semira with 5:57 left in the third quarter.
